Complaint About Debt

Woe is me, for day and night I have become the constant companion and friend of debt. For a long time I circled around everyone, hoping to find some balm for my debt. In the end, no one could free my soul's leg from the tight shackle of debt. I found no sound solution anywhere that could rescue me from the grief of debt.
Explanation: The refrain word 'debt' (qarz) ends every couplet in the original; this ending has been preserved in English. The fourth line begins with an ellipsis in the source, marking a missing word.
