You are the heart and soul of weary lovers, welcome, blade of greeting. Your uproar reaches the depths, your splendor fills the sky. Your fierce jealousy has carried thousands into nothingness, slain by the sword of trial on the street of love. Drink the wine and stay silent; do not hunt within the sanctuary. Do not boast of more or less at the threshold of God's majesty. When you turn toward His presence, whether you are old or new, the radiance of that face will burn away your wings and feathers. Even if you are spring and a rose garden, bright in every eye, remembering the Beloved will give life and clarity to your mirror. I cried out 'enough is He', I raised the cup of pure wine; when that grace arrived, my heart and soul reached their fullness. Qasim, if you are a lover, what is the way of the truthful? They take the blade on the back of the neck and stay patient in affliction.
Explanation: The phrase 'qul kafa' echoes a Quranic sense of 'say, God is enough.' Qasim is the poet's own signature (takhallos) in the closing couplet.
