In Praise of Atabak Muhammad

Take pride, lord of everlasting fortune, in your blessed luck and your firmly founded throne. Rescuer of the age, defender of the faithful, chosen helper of the one God and of the religion of Ahmad. Master who commands like the kingdom of Solomon, just king of kings, Atabak Muhammad. From Sa'd of Abu Bakr down to Sa'd of Zangi, father after father famous, grandfather after grandfather. The masters of the seas and the frontiers lay their heads in service upon his ground. All the renowned and the proud are bound in the chains of the favors he granted first. Wise king, shelter of the people, may you be singled out for God's eternal support. Hear one elder's counsel from Sa'di, and may your fortune stay young and your glory renewed. As long as the world has turned, it has never been faithful in keeping the children of the world alive. This worldly kingdom does not last forever; no seat of power is worth leaning on. Spend your reign and your life in such a way that your good name endures forever.
