Ode 19: In Praise of Atabak Muzaffar al-Din Saljuqshah
How fortunate are the people of Shiraz, who live sheltered under the wing of a high-soaring royal bird.
In the blessed reign of a just king, whose good fortune makes even wolf and sheep sing in harmony.
Muzaffar al-Din Saljuqshah, by whose justice the souls of Takla and Bubakr Sa'd take pride.
God has granted his people such a blessing in you that they cannot give thanks for any other gift before it.
The world gives your enemy his due: those who cast the stone of defiance only drop it back onto their own heads.
Your eloquence is the shining hand of Moses, son of Amram; how can the trickery of sorcerers ever match it?
May the prayers of the righteous and the true watch over your life, for the people of Persia stand out for their honesty and virtue.
