I leave your land with pain and longing: farewell. I lay down my life in the service of your memory: farewell. I cannot lift my head before you to ask for anything; I am too ashamed before your flower-like face: farewell. Wherever I am, I will keep praying for your good fortune. May God bless your days: farewell. If life gives me a reprieve, I will see your face in the end; and if I die far away, waiting for you: farewell. If even a trace of your curling hair reaches my dust, I will rise alive from that musky scent: farewell. If you remember me, write a few lines there. Saadi, those sweet words of yours: farewell.
Explanation: The refrain 'kheir bad' is a parting blessing, rendered as 'farewell' throughout. The curling hair carrying a musky scent is a classic image of the beloved's power to revive the lover.
