On the Vanishing of All Things Before the Being of God
The road of reason is nothing but twist upon twist; for those who truly know, nothing exists but God.
You can say this to someone who knows the truth, but those who judge by mere logic will pick it apart.
They ask: then what are the heavens and the earth? Who are the children of Adam, the beasts and wild things?
You have asked well, clever one; I will answer, if my reply pleases you.
The plains, the sea, the mountains, the sky, the fairies and humankind, demons and angels,
all of them, whatever they are, are too little to have their existence named beside His existence.
To you the sea seems vast with its waves, and the shining sun seems high at its peak.
But how can those bound to appearances grasp that the masters of meaning dwell in another realm,
where even the sun is not a speck, and the seven seas are not a single drop?
When the King of glory raises His banner, the world bows its head into the collar of nothingness.
