My Heart Can Bear No More

My heart can hold no more of this uproar, my head can carry no more of this longing. Tell your sorrow to let go of my soul, for that madman can't survive another raid. Because I ache for you, my crazed heart holds a grief so heavy even solid rock couldn't bear it. Every night my lashes push out such a flood of tears that even the sea couldn't contain it. Come tonight; don't say tomorrow, for this matter can wait no longer, not for today, not for tomorrow. I'll throw my head down at your feet like a curl of hair, if only your hair would not turn its head away from me. How could Obeyd ever find release from this pain, when the ache of his heart admits no cure?
Explanation: In couplet 6 the poet plays on 'hair' and 'turning the head': he offers to bow at the beloved's feet like a fallen lock of hair, hoping the beloved won't reject him. Obeyd is the poet Obeyd Zakani, who names himself in the closing line.
