The Messenger Arrives with Good News and the Beloved's Favor
Lost in this thought, I turned the night to day,
and poured out endless cries from a burning heart.
When at the hour before dawn, from the edge of the sky,
the world-conquering sun raised its banner high,
From the east they scattered gold across the twilight,
and set rubies with skill into that gold.
The lamp of the dark night's fortune was fading,
as the army of day overcame the night.
In that moment the tone of things changed,
and my dawn prayer finally took effect.
Suddenly the courier of good fortune came running,
bringing me a message from my beloved.
Saying: take heart, for now your love has come;
your work has been given fresh life again.

in the end your hand has reached a treasure.
You bore your grief and found one who shares it;
you gave your heart and won a heart in return.
With effort you set a single seed as bait,
and with this spell you tamed a fairy.
That old, kind friend sat down beside me,
the cure for my ache, the balm for my wound.
He kept relating the beloved's message to me,
telling tales that soothed away my sorrow.
When his tongue began to speak the beloved's words,
my heart grew glad and my soul found rest.
I flung the wine cup out into the garden,
and tossed my cap of joy up onto the roof.
My skittish fortune fell into order at last,
and my old sickness finally found its cure.
The flower of my joy bloomed in life's garden;
my love was arriving, and fortune said:
