I Asked My Reason

I called on my reason; it said, 'I stand bewildered before you.' I called on my soul; it said, 'I am the one who dies for you.' I called on my heart; it said, 'That madman? He's chained up in the tangle of your scattered hair.'
Explanation: The 'scattered hair' is a classic Persian image for a lover trapped and driven mad by the beloved's beauty; its loose curls become the chains that bind him.
