Bring the Cup of Purity

Cupbearer, bring that cup of pure clarity; for a moment set us free from ourselves. For God's sake, if you can do something, then do it, do something, do something, for God's sake. As you have made your own eyes drunk, make drunk our hearts, our minds, our souls, our sight. The world is full of counterfeits and cheats; come, work your alchemy on these false hearts. You could remake us into a whole new self, if only you and we had the desire. A beggar becomes a king the very day that you seat that beggar on your own throne. The first painting is crowded with figures and designs; O beloved, wipe every image from the heart. Come, cleanse the world-reflecting mirror clean of every picture of this world. Once you have wiped away the world's design, adorn its face with the image of your own face. Before the sky of the heart, like the sun, sweep every star from the tablet of the heavens. Come, cast a ray of light upon the setting west; in the name of love, turn this faint star into the sun.
Explanation: The 'world-reflecting mirror' echoes the legendary cup of Jamshid that showed all the world. The final couplet plays on the poet's name Maghrebi (the westerner) and 'Soha,' a faint star.
