In Praise of My Lord

You are my God and my master; when I praise you, my words bow before you. Forever beneath the seal of your love, this heart of mine grows soft as wax. On the day you scatter your gifts like loose pearls, they are countless, like the strung pearls of my verse. With such a custom of generosity, others come to know me by what you give. Truly, of all your bounties nothing is left owing to you but the gift you always grant me.
Explanation: The poem plays on 'loose pearls' (prose gifts) versus 'strung pearls' (the poet's verse), a classic Persian image contrasting prose and poetry.
