Section 13

So we call it justice from Yazdgird, or we call it spite from these seven wheeling spheres. If a person cannot tell spite from justice, no philosopher has ever given me an answer either. And if a religious man spoke, he spoke with everything sealed shut; the real answer stayed hidden. If you have any wealth at all, my wise friend, put it to good use and don't wait on tomorrow to gladden your heart. For this world keeps passing you by, and time keeps counting every breath we take. Let yourself enjoy your food and drink; if you survive, the one who gives justice will provide. If my income and my spending had only balanced out, time would have been like a brother to me. This year the hail came down like death itself; for me, death would have been kinder than that hail. It cut me off from firewood, wheat, and sheep, this towering, spinning sky. Bring the wine, for little of our days remains; so it has always been, and it stays with no one.
Explanation: The 'seven wheeling spheres' and the 'towering spinning sky' are the classical heavens, blamed for fate's blows. Yazdgird here stands as an image of worldly rule and its justice.
