On the Creation of the Sun

The dark blue sky is made of red ruby, not of water and dust, not of wind and smoke. With so many glowing lights, with so many lamps, it is decked out like a garden at Nowruz. Moving through it is a heart brightening jewel, the one from which the day takes its light. It rises in the east and travels toward the west; no order is more exact or truer than this. You who are my very sun, what has happened, that you no longer shine on me?
Explanation: Nowruz is the Persian New Year, celebrated with lit lamps and festive gardens. In the final couplet the 'sun' becomes an address to a beloved or higher truth.
