Part 12: The Median Dynasty and the Reign of Kayqobad

Such was the lasting throne of the Kayanian line, the line the wise might call Kayqobad. Arbas, who bore the name of Media, made his calm home in the Alborz mountains. He gathered an army from the Median people and raised dust from the city of Nineveh. Bel-zis, who was the god of Babylon, served as Arbas's guide in this affair. He gave him word that his foe would be defeated, for he was a reader of the stars. When they had finished with the matter of Nineveh, they founded a kingdom out of Media. After King Arbas there were six men, and each one followed the path of the divine. One among them was Nozar by name, another was Gord Fartus, famed and content. The third was the warrior Ashkash, and the fourth was Arvand, breaker of armies. The fifth was Karzam, that lion-catching hero, and the sixth was Manjik, a brave and bold champion. From every corner of Iran they each held a small share of every realm. From Azerbaijan to the land of Kabul, none of them ever made mention of the others.
